Violet Lynn aka Violet Rae Givens didn’t reveal herself to me like Cole did. She hid herself from me, not tell her secrets (to me) until a third of the way into writing the book. What I did know about her—that she was successful and completely happy with her life at one time. But now she wasn’t and I knew she needed the perfect hero. Someone who wasn’t in the business and had shoulders broad enough to help carry the burden of her secrets.
Violet is not based on anyone I know. She’s purely a figment of my imagination. Does she have qualities like anyone I know? Sure. At heart, Violet is a good person (why else would Cole want to be with her?!) and actually cares about people. She’s loyal, keeps her promises and is a people pleaser (a good and bad thing).
Sometimes she speaks before she thinks (don’t we all?) but she’s quick to admit it and she’s pretty easy-going about things, which is why I think she’s perfect for Cole.
Violet got her start on an American Idol/X-Factor type of contest. Her parents didn’t push her to be a singer or even a performer. They’re not “stage” parents.
Kellie Pickler (remember when she auditioned for American Idol?) is the perfect representation of Violet with a little bit of Miley Cyrus thrown in—the nose piercing and pixie cut hair.
