Author’s Take on the Leading Man in The Do Over
By A.L. Zaun

A little bit about Liam Lucas. Several years back when the last thing in the world I was remotely interested in, since I was a single mom of a toddler, was dating, my friends teased me about it and told me I had to be open to the possibilities that existed. I didn't need the distraction until a certain gentleman walked through my doors with the most intense blue eyes, and I quickly reconsidered my position on dating.

Pretty much from the get go, Paul Walker was my muse for Liam. There's just something about Paul's eyes, the ways he moves, his smile, and let's face it have you watched kissing scenes? The man can kiss. He just embodied Liam Lucas.

Liam, however, is a character that is my ideal. I love the fact that he's the good guy. Even thought he's experienced tragedies that have defined much of who he is, those events of the past don't keep him from embracing his present and even hoping for a future. He's confident in who he is and when his friends give him a hard time about his being whipped, he doesn't let it affect him or alter the way he treats his girl. While he is quite smitten, he isn't a push over.

I love that he's just an all around great character. I think he's sexy, smart, sweet, swoony, but also manly.

There's also Rick Marin. Sigh, what would The Do Over be if it weren't for Rick? Probably a sappy lovestory. While many people hate him and want to punch him, Rick made this story different. He wasn't the beloved that let her get away. He was a self-centered, arrogant jerk. But even Rick wasn't all bad, he really wasn't, if you paid close attention.

Rick's character is a compliation of the many men I've dated, and when I've talked to other women in Miami about men, they all agree that Rick is typical—although that's a gross generalization. He's probably a little bit on the extreme side.

Clearly Rick's vice is himself—everything that comes out of his mouth, the thoughts in his head are just assine. Through his POV, you got to know Rick in the Raw. However, he does clean up well. He's an educated professional. He's extremely successful in his career, but having grown up in an indulgent lifestyle with little responsibility, Rick doesn't truly know how to appreciate people and things.
