BLURB :
The nine traditional Greek Muses, who are now living on Earth, find their everyday lives disrupted by the appearance of a mysterious mortal who is developing powers beyond human capabilities. After Dan Gordon falls in love with Terpischore, he finds himself in the midst of a power struggle between the forces of Heaven and the denizens of Hades – with the winner claiming his heart and soul.

Bemused and Bedeviled takes you into the drama-filled lives of the nine sisters, headed up by the impetuous Terpischore, oversexed Melpomene, irascible Calliope, and the impossibly cheerful Euterpe. On the dark side, Lucifer and his three Sirens – the level-headed Calypso, wrathful Celestia, and the effervescent Chanteuse – deal with their own darker issues. The representatives of good and evil vie for Dan’s loyalty and allegiance, despite family issues that threaten to rip the very fabric of the universe apart.

EXCERPT :
Polyhymnia (Polly) and Euterpe (Buterfly) are talking to Dan about what their sister expects in a boyfriend.

“Fiddle dee dee,” Polly said curtly before winking at Butterfly. “What say we make some proverbial lemonade from your mortal lemons, Dan?”

“Oooh, that’s a good idea, Polly. Are we ready to give Dan,” Butterfly lifted her hand and curled her fingers, “the talk?”

“I’m a little too old for that, Ladies.” He smirked. “About eight years too late.” Dan winced at their intense stares, “Okay, maybe seven…why?”

“Not that talk, you silly goose,” Polly said before staring at Butterfly. “Has Terri offered any complaints about his…um…energy yet?”

Dan watched Butterfly’s brown eyes widen before she covered her mouth in apparent embarrassment. “Not a thing, Nosy Rosie. But I’m reasonably sure they haven’t gotten to that particular phase of their relationship yet.”

I know Terpischore, Euterpe. Polly raised her brow. Don’t jive me, Sis.

She’s not like she used to be, Polyhymnia. Butterfly crossed her arms. Since that mess with her and Calliope, she’s hardened her heart to sex…and relationships.

Polly gave her a skewed look, turned to Dan, and painted on a smile. “No, Dan. I’m not interested in your lack of a sex life with my sister. Instead, Butterfly and I would like to counsel you on the proper way to court someone as world weary as a Muse.”

“Who’s going to court?” Dan replied. “Me? Hold on.” He stood up before they pulled him back down. “Tell Father I didn’t do anything with Terri that wasn’t fully requested or gladly recipro –”

“No, she meant dating,” Butterfly interrupted. She tapped his mouth and giggled at Polly’s suspicious eyes. “Sorry, we forget courting a woman has now been culturally replaced by the term dating a shorty.” She giggled. “Our bad, Homie.”

“Oh…okay.” Dan smirked. “I knew that.”

Polly pursed her lips at Butterfly. So, they’re not quite to that particular phase of their relationship, huh?”

Terri went without a regular man for sixty years after Darren. Butterfly narrowed her eyes. Besides, you’re one to talk about numerous affairs, Heifer.

Polly shrugged off the insult and turned her attention back to Dan. “Now, being a mere human puts you in a difficult position to properly squire our sister. Terpischore has been to every exotic locale in the world, experienced the finest cuisine in the ritziest restaurants, and has enjoyed countless breathtaking rendezvous’ in the past.” Polly smiled. “Plus, she’s doubtlessly been wooed by the strongest, handsomest, and most suavely debonair men the earth has ever had to offer.”

“Thanks, Polly.” Dan sighed. “I think I’ll finally take Calliope’s recent advice and slit my wrists and throat with a rusty razor.”
