Book Description:
Gossip girl meets Hollywood in this new series by Jillian Dodd

Keatyn has everything she ever dreamed of. Her life is following the script she wrote for the perfect high school experience. She’s popular, goes to the best parties, dates the hottest guy, and sits at the most coveted lunch table.

She’s just not sure she wants it anymore.

Because really, things aren’t all that perfect. Her best friend is threatening to tell everyone her perfect relationship is a scam. Her perfect boyfriend gets drunk at every party they go to. It’s exhausting always trying to look and act perfect. And deep down, she isn’t sure if she has any true friends.

To add to the drama, her movie star mom has a creepy stalker. A hot, mysterious man keeps flirting with her and telling her they should make a movie together. And she’s crushing on an adorable surfer. Dating him would mean committing social suicide.

So she writes a new script. One where all the pieces of her life will come together in perfect harmony.

But little does she know, there's someone who will do anything to make sure that doesn’t happen.

Review:

Move over Serena Van Der Woodsen there’s a new girl in town. When I saw this compared to Gossip Girl I knew I had to read it. This book had me enthralled; I could not put it down. I was so fascinated by the world she lived in. I felt like I was in this world as I was reading the book.

First off, I recommend this to 16 and up. Make sure you are comfortable with mature content. It has a lot of sexual, drinking, and drugs content. This will probably be one of the longest reviews I have ever written. Keatyn is young, pretty, and rich; what could be wrong? Her mom and stepdad are both famous. She lives in a mansion in Malibu with them and her sisters. Lately, her mom’s stalker is getting dangerous, but no one could of guess how close he was really. What girl wouldn’t want to grow up in that kind of world? Keatyn has a ton of freedom. Her parents don’t enforce a lot of rules on her, because they feel like they raised her to be a mature adult. There are so many men in this book, and a lot of them have the eye on Keatyn. I think Cush pretty much became my favorite. Maybe, I will have a new favorite in book two, you will see why when you read the ending of book 1.

I am going to introduce you guys to the major characters in this book. I liked most of the characters in this book.

Keatyn: She is one of the most popular girls at her school. She feels like two different people at times. She is torn between the spotlight, and being a laid-back surfer girl. I think she is really relatable to older teens. She wants to be loved, desired, and happy.

Keatyn’s Men:
Sander:
He’s a child star trying to live a normal high school life. He is Keatyn’s longtime boyfriend. They are the perfect couple or so they seem...

Cush: He is one of Keatyn’s best friends, and might have a teensie crush on her. He is the player who sleeps around with every girl he can get his hands on, but he has a heart of gold when it comes to Keatyn.

Damian: He is also one of Keatyn’s best friends. He is a rock star that is about to go on tour with his band around Europe. He is in the book off and on. He is very supportive and caring towards Keatyn.

Vincent: He is somewhere between his late 20s and early 30s. He wants to cast Keatyn in a remake of one of her mother’s movies. He also spends a lot of time flirting with her. I find that truly creepy. Girls if you are 16 and a guy in his late 20s is flirting with you, please just walk away.

Brooklyn: He is her first love, her surfer boy. He is her ideal man. He is handsome, laid-back, and fun.  She wishes to one day be with him.

Keatyn’s Girl Friends:
Vanessa: She is Queen Bee. She is the girl people fear, and does her bidding because of it. She is always planning her next move; her next campaign to keep them on top.

RiAnne: She is just a follower of Vanessa’s. She does whatever Vanessa tells her to in order to stay in the popular group.

Keatyn’s Family:
Mom: Her mom is Abby Johnston, she is a famous actress. She is known around the world, and is always jet setting off to different countries.

Step-dad: Her not really step-dad is Tommy Stevens. They are not married, but Keatyn considers him her step dad. He was a playboy before her mom landed him.

Sisters: Her sisters are triplets. Their names are Avery, Emery, Ivy. They sound like a handful, but also adorable.

I can’t wait for book two, Kiss Me. I am going to buy it as soon as it is available on Barnes N Noble. I suggest you guys do that same.

Quotes:

“Ohmigawd”- This was my only complaint during the book, it was said way too much!
“It’s amazing how much make up it takes to look perfectly natural.”- Just a funny, but true quote.

Movie/TV Flashback Quotes: I absolutely loved them. I thought it was fun.

Mean Girls anyone?
“I was wrong. I gotta get out of here. I think I’m a mean girl. Like I’m becoming plastic or something.”

He’s Just Not That Into You (One of the best movies of all time)
“And you know what it means,” Vanessa continues. “It means he’s just not that into you.”

Every Disney movie in existence:
“Damn Disney, and all their happily-ever-after, unrealistic, bullshit stories.”

Legally Blonde:
“You just told me what Elle Woods told her dog when they got to Harvard in Legally Blonde.”

Harry Potter:
“He chuckles and points to his shirt. Under the cougar are the words, Senior Prefect.” I laugh. “What is this, Hogwarts?”

Dora the Explorer:
“Boots is the name of the monkey on Dora the Explorer?” “Who’s Dora the Explorer?”

Gossip Girl:
“His dark hair is slicked back instead of swooped down on his forehead, and he reminds me a bit of Nate from Gossip Girl.” (side note:  anyone who reminds me of Nate wins my vote as favorite guy in the book, so maybe I do already have a new favorite lol)

Book Summary:
I’ve always written scripts for my perfect life.
But no way could I have ever scripted this.
My life is so far from perfect, it’s not even funny.
All because of a stalker.
I’m at a boarding school where I have to lie about who I am.
I can’t see my family.
I’m tutoring a hottie god that tortures me with his smile.
The most popular girl already hates me.
But there’s this boy.
This hot, sweet, sexy boy.
So I’m going to stop trying to script my life and just live it.
Because who knows how long I have left.

Excerpt:
He leads me out of the party and across the hall, opens the door to an empty dorm room, turns on a lamp, then gently pushes me up against the door and kisses me.
Again, it’s a slow, soft, amazing kiss. The kind of kiss that makes me feel like he’s kissing my soul.
Oh my gosh. What the heck does that even mean? Kissing my soul? I’m seriously losing it here.
It’s official. Almost getting kidnapped has affected me. I definitely have some sort of post-traumatic stress thing, and the symptoms must include having irrational thoughts about Hottie Gods.
Aiden’s hands are very appropriately placed around my waist and are not moving.
Damn it, man.
Move your hands.
Kiss me with your tongue.
Take my shirt off.
Attack me already. Please! I can’t take it anymore.
But I don’t say any of that. I just savor each and every slow, amazing, and tongue-free kiss.
Maybe he was born without a tongue, I think for a brief second, but then I realize that I am dumb because he wouldn’t be able to talk if he had been, now would he?
He stops kissing me and looks deep into my eyes. I seriously should have guzzled a few shots the second I got here.
But I had no idea he would be here!
The way he’s looking at me is sorta unnerving but, at the same time, like the kiss, it electrifies me. His face is close to mine, but not so much that he is, like, blurry to look at. I figure if he can stare at me, then I can stare back.
And I take in every curve and angle of his face.
The way his jawline is flexing slightly. How his eyelashes are a dark, dark brown and curl upward. How he has a sexy teeny freckle just to the side of his left cheek. How his textbook lips are the exact color of the pale pink roses Tommy gave Mom for their anniversary, and how the sides of his mouth are turning up, starting to smile at me. He blinks slowly. When his eyes open, I study the emerald green of his irises, how they have little flecks of blue in them and maybe even a little gold around the edges. I feel like time is standing still again.
He slides his hands up into my hair and leans in to kiss me again. My body is trying to be good, but I can’t stop it from leaning into him. Melding to his body. I could stay this way forever.
He stops kissing me, looks deeply into my eyes again, and tells me he loves me.
Oh, wait.
He didn’t say that.
I just thought that.
Well, I thought his eyes told me that.
Shut up! It’s what it felt like.
And what the hell is with the going so slow? Does he not want to make out with me? Is he gay?
Finally he says, “You should probably go back and check on your friend. Those guys will get her drunk and take advantage of her.”
“We didn’t drink before we came. She can’t be drunk yet, and you promised me a drink.”
“Also, I don’t want people to notice we’ve been gone very long. They’ll think we’re having sex. We don’t want to ruin your reputation on your second day.”
“I think maybe you just don’t want to be alone with me. I don’t understand. You act like you’re all into me, but then we barely kiss.”
I get irritated and frustrated by this, but no way am I going to be the one to move things along.
And I thought he was a player.
So why isn’t he trying to play me? To use me? To take advantage of me?
I shoulda pretended to be drunk, maybe?
