Wow, that was ridiculously hard to do! I chose to describe AT FIRST TOUCH this way because most of Liz’s struggle is centered on the cost of her extraordinary gift. Liz is an untapped source of knowledge, and we all know knowledge is power. But that kind of power is coveted, and so everything Liz suffers through and fights for is to pay that cost, to earn the right to live the kind of life she wants and deserves, not just surviving under someone else’s terms.
